Wood working tools that drill holes

A drill lives somewhere in every household, I bet. Drills are such handy tools and serve so many purposes that it is almost unimaginable to do any work without one.

A drill is also a tool that makes a man feel like an expert handyman who can fix anything in the house. There is just something magical about the sound of an electric drill; much like the sound of a chainsaw that makes men want to rev them up over and over again. Drills are indispensable wood working tools.

Now to the practical side of drill. Hardly anyone remembers the old manual drills. Yes, there was such a thing. Nowadays, practically all drills are electric drills. They come in two varieties:

  • Corded electric drills get plugged into a wall outlet. They
do not have expensive batteries that need to be charged. On the other
hand, corded drills are worthless without an electric outlet. Buy a
lightweight drill that is well balanced and lies comfortably in the hand.
A 3/8″ drill will do for most do-it-yourself applications. However, 1/2″
drills are stronger and more suited for heavy-duty work.
  • Best Cordless drills tend to be everyone’s favorites these
days. And there are good reasons for it. First, you can use them
practically anywhere. No need for an electrical outlet. Secondly, they
have a clutch that can be set to various levels. This is a great feature
when you use the drill to set screws. And who would not?  Cordless drills
have adjustable speeds, though some corded drills also do have them.

Cordless drills have either a 3/8 or a ½ inch chuck.

Add a cordless drill with either 9 or 12-volt operating voltage to your wood working tools. And have two rechargeable batteries.  Higher voltage drills, such as 18 volts, are heavier and harder to wield.
